If you’re looking to paint your home interior or exterior in 2017 there are plenty of trends to look at and personal preferences to weigh. Most homeowners start their search online reviewing home color predictions for 2017. Going with choosing a color that is modern now will keep your home looking fresh for an average of 6 to 9 years. Hence, an online review is preferable to a trip to the local paint store.
Prepare to be bombarded with color predictions and a multitude of opinions. After sorting through fashion and design color picks, you will see some paint store chains weighing in. Believe it or not, the best choice is to find a common thread and pursue paint store predictions that come closer to the consensus of other color use predictions.
Luckily we’ve done that for you!
Here is our Favorite of the Interior or Exterior 2017 Home Color Predictions
And the winner is… Poised Taupe via Sherwin-Williams
We can only agree with their sentiments…
“Sherwin-Williams doesn’t usually like to play color favorites, but in this case we can’t resist. The color we anticipate defining 2017 is Poised Taupe. Here’s why: This timeless neutral is modern, classic and a beautiful balance of warm and cool. No other home color predictions will come close!
As we prepared our 2017 Color of the Year selection, it became clear that neutrals are beginning a transition from the monochrome grey of the past five years to a more complex taupe and brown.
Grey has enjoyed its assent to “favorite” status over the last five years – but 2017 will mark the beginning of a warming trend. Influences such as natural or organic materials, weathered and worn finishes, and global cultural preferences have suggested alternatives to a primarily grey existence. Taken from our 2017 colormix™ forecast – our commercial neutrals showcase the best of 2017, anchored by our Color of the Year, Poised Taupe SW 6039.”
Their page dedicated to this color will show you color combinations to go with Poised Taupe. It’s actually these colors that harmonize with the rest of the projections out there. This means that you can use these tones for a pop item like a front door or a trim.
The following are some of our favorite accent colors. Note that we are fans of using primary colors but using all three in a room is flashy.
Sherman Williams does a fantastic job with identifying zones where modern color families work great. The Cincinnati suburbs that Roofing Annex serves would do well to look at the selected color palettes found here.
The Big Loser in Color Predictions
Warmth ruled the 2017 color trend landscape overall. One famed color king seems to have picked some agreeably stuffy colors. Pantone, famous in the print industry for their color swatch books that make life easy for designers to merge their thoughts, has it all wrong. The fact that Vogue ran with their selections is even odder. These tones would be fine in certain indoor situations but not ideal for exterior.
