Did you know that most of the new roofing products on the market today are because of consumers like you? The major roofing manufacturers tell the Roofing Annex that their sales force bring back suggestions from homeowners that define the next roofing trend. So keep your comments coming!
“We believe our customers drive trends,” says Ron Cook, director of communications for TAMKO. “We always do our very best to listen and respond by developing products that meet their needs today and in the future.”
Upcoming Roofing Trends
Roofing manufacturers all agree that upcoming roof trends will always evolve around giving homeowners more choices and a variety of options in terms of aesthetic look, durability, low maintenance and price. It’s a tall order to fill, but one that is being made possible through technology. Here are some other trends in roofing to look forward to:
Asphalt Shingle Technology:
Within the next few years, homeowners can expect to see brand new roofing trends in asphalt shingle technology. “Atlas Roofing company spokesperson Christopher Burk, CSI, of the Think Agency says, “Asphalt shingle technology will continue to improve across all manufacturers. This will spell more opportunity for homeowners to install innovative products at competitive price points.”
Eco-Friendly Roofing:
Consumers also will see more environmentally-friendly roofing products on the market. “We are continually working on expansion of our commercial, solar and residential roofing product lines through state-of-the-art research and product development efforts,” notes Maria McDonagh-Forde, director of marketing communications at CertainTeed Roofing.
Sustainability:
Only within the past few years have homeowners begun to realize the significant savings they can realize in home energy costs by purchasing an energy efficient roof. As consumer demand increases, roofing companies will respond with more products at affordable price points. Already, trends in cool roofing shingles and adding solar roofing to existing roof systems is growing and will continue to do so in upcoming years, especially if the cost of energy continues to rise. But a key factor to more sustainable roofing products is a decline in the cost of these emerging technologies.
Laminated Architectural Shingles:
According to McDonagh-Forde at CertainTeed, laminated architectural shingles are “the new norm in asphalt roofing” and will continue to be for years to come because of consumer response. Expect more styles at virtually the same price or just a few dollars more in the near future.
Roofing Trend Inspirations
In addition to consumer feedback, trends in roofing are born through test marketing. If consumers respond favorable to a roofing product that is being tested in the market, roofing manufacturers put a greater focus on developing additional products.
Roofing companies, like the Roofing Annex, also provide great inspiration for the latest roofing trends. “There is a focused effort to listen to what contractors need and to develop products that will help contractors offer value to homeowners,” explains Burk.
