About the ShingleMaster Distinction
The ShingleMaster (SM) credential is a designation presented by CertainTeed Corporation after a roofing company successfully completes its SM Credential Course. Headquartered in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, CertainTeed is the leading manufacturer of building materials in North America, including roofing and exterior siding.
CertainTeed established its ShingleMaster program to ensure roof installers are well versed in installing their products and to provide continuing education programs that are revised every year based on new roofing technologies and techniques and the experiences and recommendations of those in the residential roofing trade.
How We Earned the Designation
First we had to qualify for the SM Credential Course. We were approved based on our superior workmanship in installing residential roofing systems and our high rating in customer satisfaction. So thank you for the high marks in customer service!
Next, our employees had to successfully complete the ShingleMaster Credential Course, which tested their knowledge of roofing materials and their proper installation. Some of our roofing installers also obtained or are working towards the CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator, a program that covers all aspects of shingle installation techniques, roof systems, estimating, flashing, ventilation, workmanship and approved procedures for installing CertainTeed roofing shingles.
